Behind the Scenes – Shooting Our NatWest TV Ad

This was definitely an ‘am I dreaming’ moment when we received the call to say we’d be featuring in TV ad for NatWest (our very supportive and lovely bank) as part of their Extraordinary Businesses competition.

NatWest are working with ITV and advertising agency Pablo, who have created marketing campaigns for brands including Hovis, Holland & Barrett, BT Sport, and Comic Relief. The competition will allow three SME owners the chance to win their own professionally filmed and produced advertisement, as well as tailored airtime, worth over £150,000 each. And we’d been chosen to kick off the campaign!

With the script written by Tim Snape from Pablo all signed off, the day started very early with a shoot at our Padstow shop. We then moved to our ‘location’ shoot at Porthcothan Bay Stores, ready for Tracy’s big moment and the close up of our gorgeous fudge.

Sometimes commercial shoots can be a little pressurised as everyone is trying to get the right shot before the light changes or fades. And there’s a lot of waiting around between takes to make sure all the equipment set up in the correct way and lighting is perfect. But the ‘behind the scenes’ nibbles of Cornish clotted cream fudge seemed to work their magic. When they called ‘it’s a wrap’ the producer said it was the most chilled, happy shoot he’d been on in a long time.

You can read more about the Buttermilk case study on NatWest’s website, and find info about the competition too. We’re so excited to have been chosen to kick off this brilliant campaign and have loved sharing it with you.
