We're BUTTERM!LK, made for life’s little indulgences. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy exceptional tasting chocolate, regardless of lifestyle choice or dietary needs.

We set out to create plant-based chocolate in 2018 to ensure that no one felt excluded when choccy was going 'round the table. Our innovative, plant-powered recipes do just that: bring people together.

Did you know treats have a lower carbon footprint than traditional chocolate? We are committed to making exceptional treats without them causing more harm to the plant than necessary. Which is why we promise to only use packaging that’s recycled, recyclable or reusable.

Niggle-Free nibbles

When you indulge in our treats, snack assured that your ingredients are being sourced responsibly. We don't use palm oil. We purchase our cocoa from a farmer’s union to ensure the farmers are paid a fair price. And we choose to get our sugar from EU sugar cane because it supports healthy biodiversity.

Family Ran since 1964

We're proud of our Cornish roots. Buttermilk started as a small Padstow fudge shop in 1964, which is still operating today. While a lot has changed over the years, the one consistent remains: a family-ran business who truly cares about it's customers and making exceptional confectionery treats.

Supporting Our Community

With the seasonality of much employment in Cornwall, we knew that moving into making plant-based chocolate was an opportunity to combat this. The seasonal fudge business transformed into a year-round confectionery business that now supports the local Cornwall community with quality, year-round employment.
